Meet the Team

The steering group are members of the team that voluntarily dedicate their time towards the running of The Sew and So’s. Each steering group member has such passion for the Sew and So’s, ensuring everyone’s voice is heard, meet up’s and retreats run smoothly, venues have been booked and refreshments are stocked up. The SSG also ensure our social media pages and website are kept up to date. We all love what we do, but we couldn’t possibly do it without all of our lovely members.

Role Descriptions

A member of the steering group is expected to be present at 90% of the weekly group and/or retreats.

A member of the steering group is expected to be 100% committed to the role they are undertaking.




Chairing is a key role on any voluntary Management Committee. The Chairperson must ensure that the Management Committee functions properly, that there is full participation during meetings, that all relevant matters are discussed and that effective decisions are made and carried out. The role also involves being able to carry out public speaking on occasion and ensuring the constitution is followed through.



Manages or oversees the management of the financial affairs of the organization, often including such basic tasks as selecting a bank, reconciling bank statements, and managing cash flow. The roles also includes an experience of financial control and budgeting.


Events/Publicity Officer

The Events/Publicity Officer is responsible for ensuring that the retreats and weekly groups are organised by securing appropriate venues. Notifying members of their existence and any changes. Keeping facebook up to date, interactive and appealing through empowering and encouraging members to contribute.



The role of the Secretary is to support the Chair in ensuring the smooth functioning of the Management Committee. In summary, the Secretary is responsible for: Ensuring meetings are effectively organised and minuted. Maintaining effective records and administration.


Group Representative

A representative speaks on behalf of the members of the group. A representative must at all times act exclusively in the best interests of the group and be actively involved in any decisions.
